About PaintFromPhoto

PaintFromPhoto is a free web tool that turns any photo into a custom paint by numbers template. It was built for people who want the joy of painting their own photos — pets, family, landscapes, memories — without waiting weeks for a printed kit or paying for a subscription.

Privacy is a design principle, not a feature. The entire pipeline — image decoding, k-means color clustering in perceptual Lab color space, region simplification, number placement and PDF generation — runs as JavaScript in your browser. No image, thumbnail or metadata is ever transmitted to our servers, which means there is nothing for us to store, share or lose.

The color palette is matched to 48 common acrylic paint names using the CIEDE2000 color-difference formula, so the legend you print can be used as a shopping list. Output sizes cover standard paper (A5, A4, A3, Letter), canvas frame sizes F4–F50 and square formats, with true-size PDF pages and tiled A4 sheets for home printers.
